Our team is willing to weld chromoly pipes (4130) of 1.125in Outer dia with 0.058in thickness.
We found somewhere that we can perform SMAW on that. is it true? please tell the electrode and other parameters to do so.
thanx.

Welcome,

Yes you can. You can weld chromoly pipe with tig, mig, stick and A/O.

But it all depends on what it is used for on how it should be welder and with what filler.

As it is only 1 1/18" thin wall tube I would say tig or mig it, but if you have to use stick then use 1/16" 7018 at around 40 amps.

If this is for a roll cage in a race car it must be tig welded to be certified and pass tech.

thanxx.. any source or link for the same.. we have limited resources available for tig, so we were preferring stick one..
